Matthew D. Cohen

Matthew D. Cohen is a business attorney who joined the firm in June 2025. Originally from Merrick, New York, Mr. Cohenearned his Bachelor of Arts, cum laude, from the University of Florida in 1999 and his Juris Doctor from Brooklyn Law School in 2003.

Mr. Cohen brings extensive experience representing businesses and individuals in a broad range of commercial and civil litigation, contract claims, real estate disputes, commercial collections, construction-related matters and general business counseling.  His practice includes negotiating, drafting, reviewing and enforcing business agreements, including commercial leases, amendments and lease terminations, customer agreements, partnership agreements, as well as purchase and sale agreements for business acquisitions. While his primary focus is on supporting businesses in their contract and litigation disputes, he also represents individuals in civil matters ranging from real estate disputes to construction-related claims. Mr. Cohen also has significant experience representing restoration and remediation companies on matters throughout Florida. He assists these clients with reviewing their form contracts, lien preparation and recording, lien foreclosures, contract enforcement, collections, and other construction-related matters.

His current and former clients include property management companies, commercial landlords and tenants, retailers, cellular phone store operators, car dealerships, as well other businesses across a range of industries.

Mr. Cohen is an active member of the South Florida professional community. He is affiliated with the Broward County Bar Association and BNI Broward, has served as an instructor at the National Institute of Trial Advocacy (NITA) Deposition Training Conference, and has participated in the Anti-Defamation League's Glass Leadership Institute. Outside the office, he is an avid runner and enjoys playing guitar and chess. Above all, he cherishes time spent with his wife, Lindsay, and their two daughters.
