David W. Black

David W. Black, a partner in the Firm, practices in the area of commercial litigation and has handled numerous cases involving landlord interests, creditors’ rights, and insurance defense. He is known for his skill in handling complex litigation and effectively representing clients in a variety of state and federal tribunals, at both the trial and appellate levels. There are numerous published appellate opinions which bear his name. He represents several prominent large commercial landlords in the South Florida area, representing them in negotiating and drafting complex commercial leases.

Mr. Black earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration in 1980 from Washington University in St. Louis. In 1982, he received a Juris Doctor degree, with honors, from the University of Florida.

Mr. Black is a member of the Broward County Bar Association and served twice as Chairman of Grievance Committee 17D of the Florida Bar. He is also a member of the trial bars of the U.S. District and the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of Florida. He has acted as a judge for many years in moot court and trial competitions at Nova Southeastern Law School. He has received a leadership award for his role in Broward Lawyers’ Care. He was a member of the American Inns of Court from 1992-1999.

Mr. Black is a founding director of Community Bank of Broward. Mr. Black was born and raised in South Florida. He has served as a youth sports coach for many seasons with the Cooper City Optimist Club. He enjoys all sports and spending time with his wife and 2 children.
